10 Of The Very Best Vegan Cookie Recipes EVER!

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really are moist and simmer for days, they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Banana may be one of those flavors that can get lost when you inhale with it. It can be really subtle flavor. It always bums me out once that occurs, because I really like the taste of banana. And so does the hubs.

So when great flavored banana treats come along, we move a little mad for them.

These cookies make the list of banana items to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moist, they almost melt in your mouth. Plus, using both banana and oats inside them, they are basically healthy, correct? And ideal for breakfast!

Creating them is just as simple as eating them.

You've got the typical suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You begin with mixing all of those beautiful components together.

I must warn you. The odor of that mixture -- with all the banana -- is equally intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen which makes the dough with me (we made a deal that contained him baking with me) and we both had to work hard to not put our faces, or even a straw, right in to it.

You then add all of the ingredients (which usually means you simply use one bowl yay!) And combine it all together!

To bake them, spoon out about a tablespoon of bread and make a thick disk, rather than a chunk. They spread a bit after baking, and thus don't place them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes to get a fine, moist cookie. So yummy!

1 additional thing I really like about this recipe is where it came out.

My grandma (my dad's mother ) passed away in 2008. After I started baking a lot a couple of years back, my uncle gave me her cookbook that he'd had and didn't use. I have had it in my list to produce numerous her desserts since.

It was a convention for my grandmother to make them every Christmas! She also gave everyone a huge tin of these, which was quite an effort with 6 sons.

I know just how much of an accomplishment it was! My goodness. She made them with a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over an open flame. My dad and I had them on the stove. They cook very fast and you have to be precise. Too little time and they sort of disintegrated into iron. Overly long and they burnt to the iron and we all address had to wash it out.

My dad was pouring the batter and taking away the cookies, I was working the ironthe hubs was timing things. It took a number of tries to get it right, but they had been so excellent! I have attempted to make them again on my own and it never works. I would like to share the recipe, but the dang irons are so tough to discover. And expensive. At some point, I'd like to just earn a cookie with the exact same gaufrette flavor.

For today though, I'm sharing these cookies. I don't think I had them when she made them, but they are from her novel.

It's such an enjoyable recipe book to check through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, including clippings and paper recipes which were taped to the publication. I like the way they used to compose recipes at the newspaper -- they'd the man who filed it's title and adorable little stories. It's so enjoyable to browse ! What another time on the planet!

Anyways, I don't know where this recipe came out. The paper appears like it was on a flier out of their square dance class or something (they were big to square dancing). It's undoubtedly from West Virginia, where they dwelt.

Either way, I'm so glad to finally talk about a recipe from her novel with you! I made a couple of changes to make them thicker and puffier and they're delicious. There will be more to come out of her recipe book, but for the time being like the banana.
